Less Corrosive

(approved for aluminum contact*)

Fastener corrosion is one of the most common and pervasive problems associated with treated lumber. Chemicals used in most commercially available, pressure-treated lumber products attack and compromise the composition of many types of metal fasteners, essentially accelerating the corrosion process. Fastener corrosion can lead to unwelcome rust stains on nearly new decks, as well as compromised structural integrity of the deck assembly.

ProSelect provides better protection against corrosion for exterior and interior code-approved fasteners and hardware. The micronized copper attaches to the cell walls and reduces the galvanic reaction between the copper in the lumber and fasteners.

Better Ability to Hold Paint and Stain

Traditionally, painting pressure-treated lumber has been a chore and a challenge. The chemicals used to protect the lumber against rot and decay unfortunately also repel paint and stain.

Micronized technology promotes better painting and staining results. ProSelect's micronized copper particles are unable to migrate and attack bonds between wood and paint. ProSelect's lighter color allows for a far broader palette of paints and stains to be used.

Lighter “Natural” Color

Unlike the unsightly greenish-brown color of most treated lumber, ProSelect micronized treated wood has a lighter, natural tint. The copper color is physically "fixed" in the wood fibers and does not bleed through to the surface. The more attractive color lends itself to enhanced painting and staining options, as well.

ProSelect is also:

Environmentally Friendlier. ProSelect leverages the power of a pronounced new consumer preference for products that are better for the environment. Our process contains 30% less copper than ACQ or traditional CA. Unlike ACQ, ProSelect's micronized copper naturally adheres to and bonds with wood fibers, substantially reducing the likelihood of copper leaching into the environment.

Consumer Preferred. Today, consumers can get pressure-treated wood just about anywhere. ProSelect offers quantified, definable advantages in the product category for both contractors and do-it-yourselfers.

ProSelect
with ProSeal:

  • Improves durability
  • Inhibits water absorption
  • Decreases expansion and contraction
  • Helps prevent warping and twisting

ProSelect is available with moisture protection:

ProSelect with ProSeal improves the durability and appearance of wood exposed to the elements.

Dimensional changes of the wood and degradation of the finish are caused by the combined effects of rain, snow, sunlight and wind abrasion. Factory-applied with the preservative, ProSeal is a wood additive that inhibits water absorption and helps to keep wood dry.

Expansion and contraction is a result of wood shrinking as it loses moisture and swelling as it gains moisture. ProSelect with ProSeal enhances the overall weather performance of lumber and minimizes its tendency to warp, twist and check by enabling the wood to repel liquid.

Pressure-treated with both a preservative and water repellent, ProSelect with ProSeal is ideally suited for any outdoor project. The improved weather performance creates more attractive projects with easier construction and less maintenance.
