Rocky Top Building Products (Rocky Top) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Franklin Group, Inc. Originally established in 1977 as Rocky Top Wood Preservers, a pressure treating business in Rocky Mount, VA with only two employees, the company has experienced exceptional growth and today boasts three distribution centers amidst the northeastern United States and more than 180 employees.

Responding to the changing needs of consumers, a mature lumber market, and technological advances, Rocky Top is no longer just a pressure treating company, but rather a building products distributor, offering a wide variety of alternative wood products. Wood composites, plastic lumber, and engineered lumber markets have been enjoying rapid growth and are forecast to continue in the future. In 2004, Rocky Top Wood Preservers changed its name to Rocky Top Building Products to reflect its diversified product offering.
