Fastener and Hardware Information
For exterior applications: Galvanized, protected connectors coated at a G90 level or its equivalent (0.90 ox/ft2) and other hardware and fasteners that meet building codes for exterior use can be used in direct contact with ProSelect.
Aluminum building products may be placed in direct contact with ProSelect treated wood products used for interior uses and above-ground exterior applications.
Examples of aluminum products include siding, roofing, gutters, door and window trim, flashing, nails, fasteners, and other hardware connectors. However, ProSelect treated wood in direct contact with aluminum products should only be used in code-compliant construction applications that provide proper water drainage and do not allow the wood to be exposed to standing water or water immersion.
We recommend contacting the aluminum building product manufacturer for recommendations regarding contact between its aluminum products and ProSelect when used in ground contact applications or when ProSelect is exposed to:
- Salt water
- Brackish water
- Chlorinated water, such as in swimming pools or hot tubs
Also check with the aluminum product manufacturer regarding compatibility with other chemicals and cleaning agents.

- Aluminum can be used per manufacturers' specifications.
- Coated sinkers can be used for interior applications such as sill plates, but consult building codes before using.
- FastenMaster®, GuardDog®, and TrapEase® screws for decking applications are recommended.
- FastenMaster®, TimberLok®, and LedgerLok® screws for exterior structural applications are recommended.
